Staff Bios

Mary Bagby: Mary was born in Pampa, Texas and lived on a ranch until she was 21. Her mother still runs that same ranch. She is mother to two grown daughters and wife to Stan. Jennifer and her husband live in South Carolina and Beth and her husband also live in South Carolina.  Mary is a grandmother to Chloe, Harrison and Spencer.  She loves to teach, garden and sing and has taught preschool for 28 years. She is a member of this great church and sings in the choir.

Amber Canipe: Amber is the mother of 2 girls, both alumni of MPP now in middle and high school.  Once her girls left MPP she was not ready to say goodbye and started working here a year later!  She has lived in Florida since 2002 when she married and moved to the warmth right away. Previously Amber lived in Pennsylvania, Maryland and North Carolina.  Amber attended Long Island University and Antioch University. Amber is happy to be a part of the MPP family in any way that they see fit.

Elizabeth Clayton: Elizabeth Clayton is North Carolina native, having graduated from Appalachian State University and University North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She and her husband, Ward, have two children who are both graduates of MPP. Daughter, Monica, is a student at FSU, and son, Will, attends Creekside High School. Elizabeth is certified to teach K-3 and is also a Speech Language Pathologist. She has held numerous music positions at her church. She is very excited to begin her eighth year as MPP’s music teacher, and loves sharing her joy of music with the children. Elizabeth also enjoys yoga, dancing, visiting the beach and the mountains of North Carolina.

Mariadanna Davis: Mariadanna has lived in Jacksonville for over 14 years with her husband, Keith and three children, Luke, Lily and Liam. She has a BA degree in Child Development & Family Studies from West Virginia University. She has worked in the Early Learning field for over 20 years teaching and assessing preschool programs. Mariadanna has taught typical and special needs children. She is also an active member at San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church.  Her passions are reading, running, anything Sci-Fi and teaching her favorite age, the Terrific Twos!

Amy DeBerardine: Though Amy has called Florida her home for the past 21 years; she is an original Jersey Girl at heart!  Amy graduated from Monmouth University where she met her husband Mark whom she has been married to for the past 23 years.  Amy is the proud Mom to three children (who all went to MPP!): son, Zachary, daughters Dylan and Kaylee. In her 17th year at MPP, she considers her job the best in the world. Where else can you play in the sandbox, build with Legos, color, paint & read Dr. Seuss every day?!?  She loves to have family game nights, shopping with her 2 daughters, read and solve Sudoku puzzles.

Nicole Franklin: Nicole has lived in Jacksonville since 2003. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Florida and has taught Pre-K and Kindergarten in the Clay County Schools. All of Nicole’s children attended (and loved!) MPP.  This will be Nicole’s first year teaching the 4’s at MPP and her 4th year teaching at MPP.  She can’t think of a better way to spend her mornings than with her favorite preschoolers!

Kira Greco: Kira has been a VPK assistant at Mandarin Presbyterian Preschool since 2011, and before that spent many years as an MPP mom while all of her boys attended preschool here!  Kira has lived in Jacksonville for 13 years and is married to Karl and the mom of Sam, Jonah and Charlie.  She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education, and back in the days before children, taught elementary school in Palm Beach County, FL.  When Kira is not at MPP , she can be found running her own boys from cross country practice to flag football practice to baseball practice, and occasionally reading a book (or catching a nap) in the car. 🙂

Mellanie Henderson: Mellanie has been at MPP a LONG time!! Over the past 27 years, she has taught 3 year olds, 4 year olds, and Pre-K 5 year olds; been the Curriculum Coordinator, Assistant Director and, since 2009s has had the joy of being the Director of this wonderfully, sweet preschool. Her greatest joy and personal ministry is to connect with and love each child, family and staff member at MPP! Mellanie and her husband, Craig, adore their daughters, Amy and Kelly, 4 precious granddaughters, Caroline, Eden, Annsley Kate, Eleanor, and grandson, Harrison!! Her cup overflows :>) Outside of MPP and family, Mellanie loves traveling, and loves, loves, loves FSU football. Go Seminoles!

Stacey Johns: Stacey was born in Bitburg, Germany.  Her father is retired Air Force, so she moved around quite a bit as a child, but calls Florida “home”.  Stacey and her husband Paul have lived in Jacksonville since 2011.  They have four daughters, Hannah, Madelyn, Sarah, and Kate.  She has been a stay-at-home mom for the past 20 years and is so excited to join the MPP family now that all of her girls are in school (or at college).  She is a member of Mandarin Presbyterian Church where she works in the nursery.  She enjoys spending time with family, going to the beach, and watching Seminole football.

Kelly Keitzer: Kelly is a Jacksonville native and even went to MPP as a child. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development at Florida State University. She and her husband, JJ (John), have 2 children, Harrison and Annsley. Harrison, a former MPP student, is now excelling in First Grade and Annsley is a current MPP student. Kelly is excited about her first year of teaching 3’s at MPP, previous 2 years as a Classroom Assistant. In her free time Kelly enjoys reading, watching college football and sleeping!!!

Melody Longstreth:  Melody is in her 10th year at MPP as a TWTh VPK teacher.  She is a Jacksonville native and has been married to her husband, Wes, for 32 years.  They have 2 sons, Hunter and Will and a daughter, Ellie, and a son-in-law Will.  Melody is a graduate of Florida Southern Colege and taught primary grades in Duval County Public Schools and kindergarten at San Jose Episcopal Day School the years her children attended.  Melody returned to the classroom in 2007 when her children began heading off to college.  She feels blessed to have the happy distraction from her very quiet homefront that teaching VPK provides!

Elizabeth McDonnell: Elizabeth comes from a large family of six girls originally from the San Francisco Bay Area.  She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Villanova University where she also played the sport she loves most – volleyball.  In 2004, Elizabeth and husband Jeff headed to Jacksonville to be closer to family.  They have four children.  All of her children have come through MPP.  Elizabeth, has always loved children, is in her 6th year as a MPP staffer.  Elizabeth’s favorite things to do include crafts, cooking, watching her children play sports, and especially having a house filled with children and friends to swim and entertain.

Terry McMahon: Terry moved to Jacksonville (so many years ago, she’s lost count) from Arkansas to work for Duval County Public Schools as a Speech Language Pathologist. Terry met her husband, Bruce, at First Methodist Church Downtown Jacksonville and will celebrate 25 years of (mostly) wedded bliss in October. Colin, their son, (who turned 20 this summer 😱) graduated from Christ’s Church Academy and is starting his sophomore year at FSU. Colin also attended MPP beginning in Ms. Mary’s “Mom’s Morning Out” and stayed an “extra” year in the pre-kindergarten class. Terry loved MPP (and still does!) and could not bear to leave.  She volunteered, substituted, and eventually gained employment.  She enjoys sewing, reading, shopping, and hanging out with her family and friends.

Candace Minnicks: Candace is very excited to begin her MPP career as a Classroom Assistant for the 4s. Candace and her husband Tim (of 20 years) moved to Florida from Maryland 5 years ago. She has two sons, Tyler (12) and Chace (6), who is a MPP graduate. She also has a sweet dog named Lucy. Candace graduated from Stevenson University in Maryland. She enjoys working with children, watching football (Go Ravens!), going to the beach, Disney, photography and music. Candace feels very blessed to be a part of the MPP family.

Reanna Morrison: Reanna is a southern girl, born and raised in Jacksonville. She and her husband Chris, have two children: Tanner, 12 and Cameron 9.  Both Tanner and Cameron are graduates of MPP and are so happy their Mom is working at their beloved preschool!  When not spending time at her son’s golf matches and football games or traveling with her daughter for competitive cheer, Reanna enjoys shopping, spending time on the water and UF football.  Go Gators!

Jeanne Orman: Jeanne is a graduate of Indiana University (MA) and University of Illinois (BS). She and her husband, Steve have been married 34 years, and enjoyed raising their two boys, Christopher and Patrick, here in Jacksonville.  She is happy to share the birth of baby Burke this spring, born to Chris and his wife Beth, making her a first time grandmother! Jeanne loves teaching, especially at MPP, where she has taught for 15 years.  Previously she enjoyed teaching middle school, elementary, and finally pre-K, equally well.  As Pete the Cat says, “It’s all good!” Besides teaching, she likes trying new recipes, arranging flowers for the church, Pilates, two book clubs, entertaining, family time, traveling, Bible Study, and cheering for the Gators (and the Illini…the Gamecocks…the Seminoles…Clemson Tigers…Like a good momma, she tries to embrace all of the family teams!)  

Mary Rockwell: Mary has degrees from Middle Tennessee State University (B.S. in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education), and Vanderbilt University ( Special Education).   Her greatest joy is spending time with her husband of 34 years, Rocky, and their two adult daughters, Kimberly and Veronica.  Teaching at MPP for the past twelve years has been a great joy and privilege!  Mary loves teaching, visiting with family, the beach, good books, walking, biking, and art.

Carolyn Schmoyer: Originally from New Jersey, Carolyn graduated from Jacksonville University with a BS degree.  She has been married to her husband Steven for 19 wonderful years!  They have two children, Andrew and Stefanie (a former MPP student).  The Schmoyers live and play in Julington Creek.  In her 8th year at MPP, Carolyn is very excited to be a VPK teacher this year. She is an active member of St. Joseph’s Church, loves volunteering at her children’s school, and spending all of her free time with her family.

Alison Stockli: Alison is a born and raised Florida girl! She and her husband, Bob, have 3 girls: Meagan, Emma and Olivia. Emma and Olivia are both graduates of MPP. While Alison has enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom for the past few years, she is excited to be back at work now that all her kids are at school full time! When she is not busy begin a mommy, Alison is also on the PTA board at her girls’ school .

Jane Sutton: For 33 years, Jane has been married to Bob, and has been at MPP since 1998. Jane graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Early Childhood – a degree that has come in handy raising her 3 children: Kaitlin, Kelsey, and Matt. Kaitlin, a University of South Alabama graduate is married, living in Chattanooga TN. Kelsey, a graduate of Georgia Southern University; is married and teaching second grade in Augusta GA. Matt is in the logistics program at UNF and interns at Florida East Coast Railroad. All three children are MPP alumni! Jane loves all sports, especially college football. She also loves spending time with her family

Allison Walter: Allison is a true Florida girl, being born and raised in the sunshine state!  After graduating from UNF with her bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in special education, Allison decided north Florida would be her home, rather than central Florida where she grew up.  After marrying, Joe, in April 2007, the two were blessed with their first daughter Adley in June 2008, then welcomed Barrett in November 2011, and Amelia completed their family in November 2014.  Adley and Barrett are both MPP graduates, and Amelia will follow suit in a few years!  Allison is excited to be a part of the MPP family for the second year! 😊

Maria Whitcombe: Maria was born in Cuba and due to political unrest in the country her family moved to Spain when she was four years old. Maria lived in Spain for 5 years before coming to the United States. As a result of having lived in Cuba, Spain and Miami, Maria is fluent in Spanish. She feels blessed that it was in Miami that she met her husband, Erik. In 1997, Maria and Erik moved to Jacksonville. Their children, Cassandra and Jake are both alumni of MPP. Maria has been a classroom assistant at MPP since 2005 and works for Mandarin Presbyterian Church in the nursery as well.  She enjoys working with kids, spending time with family, traveling, cooking, gardening, shopping and having coffee with friends.
